Overwhelming success for the CZ Shooting Team at the IPSC Handgun World Shoot 2025 in South Africa

A phenomenal tenth world championship title for Eric Grauffel

Matlosana, South Africa (28 September 2025)

From 11 – 28 September 2025, the Frontier Shooting Range in Matlosana, South Africa, hosted the 20th anniversary edition of the IPSC Handgun World Shoot – the world championship in practical shooting. CZ was the proud Match Sponsor of this most prestigious competition and is also a long-standing IPSC Global Partner. Members of the CZ Shooting Team brought home a total of ten medals from Matlosana – four gold, four silver, and two bronze.

More than 1,800 shooters from 50 countries gathered at the starting line and completed 30 challenging shooting stages. The performance of French shooter Eric Grauffel, a legendary member of the CZ Shooting Team, attracted the most attention at this year's world championship. He achieved a historic milestone – becoming world champion for the tenth time in a row. He won his first title as a junior and has since managed to win every world championship. In Matlosana, he triumphed in the PRODUCTION OPTICS division, thus definitively entering the history books of sport shooting, while his son Robin Grauffel won his first world championship title in the Junior category of the same division.

Both shooters were aided in their outstanding performances in the PRODUCTION OPTICS division by CZ SHADOW 2 ORANGE OR pistols.

Other members of the CZ Shooting Team also achieved commendable results. In the PRODUCTION division, Argentine German Romitelli took silver and his compatriot Juan Pablo Duran won bronze. In the Lady category of the same division, Italian CZ Shooting Team member Camilla Almici was in top form and secured a victory. In the Senior category of this division, Serbian Ljubisa Momcilovic added silver to the lengthy list of medals.

All of these competitors shot with CZ SHADOW 2 ORANGE pistols in the championship.

In the STANDARD division, Kahlil Adrian Viray of the Philippines put in a great performance, finishing second just behind the winner. Czech shooter Josef Rakusan won gold in the Senior category, and his teammate Petr Znamenacek took silver.

Shooters in this division competed with CZ TS 2 ORANGE pistols.

In the OPEN division, Czech shooter Martina Sera finished third in the Lady category. Helping her achieve this result was a CZ 75 TS CZECHMATE pistol.

CZ would like to thank everyone who participated in the organization and preparation of this anniversary edition of the world championship, congratulate the winners and all members of the CZ Shooting Team on their achievements, and wish them many more winning performances on the international stage.

The CZ Shooting Team consists of the world's best shooters equipped with CZ firearms and with the goal of achieving outstanding results. Shooting according to IPSC rules is a dynamic sport that combines speed and accuracy. Competitions are held in several divisions, with today’s most important being OPEN, PRODUCTION, PRODUCTION OPTICS, and STANDARD. During the competition, shooters must complete challenging shooting stages where they shoot at static and moving targets from various positions or while in motion. There is no predetermined solution to each stage; it depends on individual decisions, and the only thing that matters is the final result expressed in points, which takes into account the speed and accuracy of shooting.
